What a great ski weekend for the Saskatoon Nordic Ski Club.
Several of our competitive racing members had top finishes at the Canadian Birkebeiner in Edmonton on Saturday. A big congratulations to them & to the 23 skiers from Saskatoon that had the courage to participate in the event.
Barret Dunbar placed 1st overall (!!) in the 55 km with pack event with a time of 3:03.49. Barret was over 5 minutes ahead of the 2nd place finisher in the overall event.
Andrew Brisbin, a SNSC member now training and going to school in Camrose, placed 1st overall (!!) in the 55 km lite event with a time of 2:49:07.5.
Ivan English placed 9th overall (!!) in the 55 km lite event, and 2nd in the men's 30-39 age category in the 55 km lite event with a time of 3:07:07.1
Also in the 55 km lite event, Ken English, 38th overall, and 3rd of 31 in his age class: 60-69. Tim Haight was 9th of 31 in his age class: 40-49 and 26th overall.
In the 31 km event, Scott Fraser placed 19th overall and Adrienne Dunbar placed 26th overall in and 4th in the female 20-29 age category.
Eb's Days was another success on Sunday, February 12. The weather was beautiful for a day of skiing and a barbeque and snacks at the south hut. Aurora was especially impressed with the hot dogs and marshmallows. More to come on Eb's Day soon!
